Phi, 1.61803.., the golden number, the key to the Golden Section/Divine Proportion, Fibonacci's Numbers... you will probably hear this number in your 2nd Year as a High School student...
Did you know that Phi/the Golden Section is applied to almost everything in this world? From your face to the mere little ants and butterflies? Look at your index finger.
But before that... let's starts with Fibonacci's numbers... it goes like this...
0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34... right? try dividing a number by the number before it. You will get Phi. Although it is not exactly 1.61803..., it is always still close to that number. Example: Dividing 8 by 5 will produce 1.6. Close, right?
Now, what does Phi have to do with the human body and nature? well, Let's start with your index finger. This text is taken from http://www.goldennumber.net/, so all rights belong to them.
Each section of your index finger, from the tip to the base of the wrist, is larger than the preceding one by about the Fibonacci ratio of 1.618, also fitting the Fibonacci numbers 2, 3, 5 and 8.
By this scale, your fingernail is 1 unit in length.
Curiously enough, you also have 2 hands, each with 5 digits, and your 8 fingers are each comprised of 3 sections. All Fibonacci numbers!
The ratio of your forearm to hand is Phi
Your hand creates a golden section in relation to your arm, as the ratio of your forearm to your hand is also 1.618, the Divine Proportion.

Body temperatures vary, even within humans. The body temperatures of mammals range from around 97° to over 103° Fahrenheit. Birds have average temperatures of around 105° Fahrenheit.
The phi point between the freezing temperature (32° F) and the boiling temperature (212° F) of water is 100.8° F, or 38.2° Centigrade.
Take the phi point from the other end of the scale of temperature and you arrive at 143°, which is about the temperature required to kill bacteria. (Generally rounded and stated as 140° in most literature.)
Interestingly enough, if you take the phi point or 0.618 of 37 degrees centigrade, which is the average human body temperature, you get 23 degrees centigrade or 73 degrees Farenheit, a "room" temperature that many would consider to be just about perfect for indoor comfort and outdoor enjoyment.
Water has a very unusual property in that it reaches maximum density in the liquid state at 4° C, instead of in the solid one. This allows ice to float, which is vital to sustaining life beneath its surface in cold climates. The kilogram is defined as the mass of water filling one liter at 4° C. If this critical temperature is regarded instead of 0° C, we find that the phi point is 105.2° F, and this defines the upper end of body temperatures.
Thus even key temperatures for body heat and comfort reflect the phi points in the property of water, of which we largely consist!
